VIC:Basketball player critical after accident

A basketball player's in critical condition in an induced coma after he fractured his
skull running into a brick wall during a game in Melbourne.

The 32-year-old man was playing at a basketball stadium in the south-eastern suburb
of Seaford this morning when he hit the wall at speed, sustaining significant head injuries
and fracturing the base of his skull.

Paramedic DAVID KERVIN says they treated the athlete with intravenous morphine and
fluids and put him into an induced coma to allow paramedics to manage his head injury.

The man's now bing treated at The Alfred hospital.
