A New South Wales parliamentary inquiry has been told disgruntled prison officers arebehind a witchhunt aimed at discrediting the state's new prisons boss.
The inquiry was launched after the appointment of Corrective Services CommissionerRON WOODHAM to the top job in January.
The state opposition has claimed it had evidence from prison officials of rampant nepotismand cronyism within the department relating to senior appointments.
Mr WOODHAM was appointed following the resignation of LEO KELIHER in November last year.
He's the first prison officer to have risen through the ranks of the department tothe position of commissioner.
But NSW Corrective Services Minister RICHARD AMERY says the allegations surroundingsenior appointments are a storm in a tea cup.
