SA: Alleged murderer remanded in custody
ADELAIDE, Dec 4 AAP - An Adelaide Hills teenager charged with murdering an apprentice
baker was remanded in custody during a brief court hearing today.
Jeremy Daryl Stewart, of Nairne near Adelaide, is one of two teenagers charged with
murdering Brian Douglas Dunstall early yesterday at Port Elliott, south of Adelaide.
Stewart, 19, was remanded in custody today when he appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates
Court to appear again next January.
The other teenager, a 17-year-old from what police describe as a small country town,
was expected to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court today.
Mr Dunstall - age 19 from Middleton, also south of Adelaide - was found unconscious
on Port Elliott's main street about 2.30am (CDT) yesterday.
Mr Dunstall had been drinking with friends at a hotel on the street and police believe
he was bashed just after he stepped in front of a car in the street of the coastal town,
forcing the driver to swerve.
Police allege he was attacked about 100 metres from the hotel.
He was found unconscious on the road about 2.30am (CDT) yesterday but was pronounced
dead on arrival at nearby Victor Harbor Hospital.
